Horticulture deals with the cultivation of those plants which bring rewards, whether in the form of profits or personal pleasure, and warrant the expenditure of intensive effort. Horticulture is concerned with plants that delight our palate, enrich our senses, soothe our nerves and free our spirits. The Department of Horticulture undertakes research and education in the basic principles and technology related to the production and improvement of vegetables, fruit trees and floricultural crops, and contributes to the betterment of this country. Horticulture graduates are serving in various areas as successful farmers, in seed companies, agrochemical companies, research institutes, and land development and management firms. As living standards improve, the demand for high quality horticultural products will increase, and so too will the demand for able horticulturists and horticulture graduates.
